    Caleb came to Ohio from Chester Co., PA in 1801 with his family and settled in Middleton, Columbiana Co., Ohio. This information is from "History of Columbiana County, Ohio". Also from "The Chester County (PA) Hawley Family" compiled by Everett Malcolm Hawley, January 1957, "Aunt Sarah and Uncle Henry were the grandchildren of Caleb Hawley who had moved to Salem from Chester County, Penn. The tale is told that what was once a large farm owned by Caleb, is now the business center of Salem."
