    Ms. Hawley was a teacher at the normal school, later known as the Fitchburg Teachers College. She was also the author of textbooks and educational articles. Among the books she authored was Teaching English in junior high schools: a study of methods and devices and Adventures in Old World History. A cenotaph is located at Griffins Mills Cemetery, where her parents are interred. She is buried in this lot with Elizabeth A. H. Sleeper.
