Notes - He was a weaver in 1720, a trader in 1731; res. in Hadley and New Salem and became prosperous; traded with the Indians. He was a soldier in the French and Indian war in Col. Williams' Regiment; served ten days; traveled forty-four miles during the siege of Fort William Henry. In the Indian war he commanded a company against the Indians; had charge of the fort in New Salem built for the protection of the families of the settlers.
